Victor is a Russian-born poet, essayist and translator, who has lived in Kyiv for over 65 years. A former scientist, he holds a PhD and DSc in Electrical Engineering from Kyiv Polytechnic (1975) and the Institute of Electrodynamics (1992) of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. After the collapse of the Soviet Union he traded off science for poetry. Major literary works include: translations and publication of Marshall McLuhan's Gutenberg Galaxy (2001); William R Catton Jr's Overshoot (2006); Jerry Mander's In the Absence of the Sacred (2007); and the poetry of Robinson Jeffers, Emily Dickinson, DH Lawrence and TS Eliot, as well as of Russian poets into English. He has also translated and edited texts by eco-philosophers Arne Naess, Fritjof Capra, Patrick Curry, Bill Devall, David Orton, David Ehrenfeld and others.
