Sally is one of the five founders of Manada Conservancy, a land trust primarily serving Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA, which has preserved 3,000 acres since 1997. In 2020 she was awarded the PA Forestry Association Mira Lloyd Dock Conservationist of the Year Award for her work in helping to preserve Pennsylvania's forests. She is a writer and poet, and her writing often reflects her interests in land preservation, wildlife habitat connectivity and the value of wilderness for human well-being.
